Terms of Use — StopAposta

1. Who we are and what this service is

StopAposta is a support app against gambling addiction: it blocks betting sites and apps on your device, connects you to a trusted person (guardian), and offers AI support chat (StopAposta AI) and an anonymous peer-support community.

StopAposta is provided by G DA SILVA C ROCHA DESENVOLVIMENTO DE SOFTWARE & TECNOLOGIA (trade name GROCHA Tech), Brazilian company ID (CNPJ) 38.323.551/0001-69 ("we"). Official channels: email contato@grochatech.com.br and phone/WhatsApp +55 (19) 98847-2424. No other profile, group, or person speaks on our behalf.

These Terms govern the site www.stopaposta.com.br and the StopAposta apps for Android and iOS. By creating an account or using the service, you represent that you have read and accepted these Terms and the Privacy Policy, which is part of this contract.

2. What StopAposta is not

We are not medical, psychological, or psychiatric treatment. StopAposta AI is not a psychologist, does not diagnose, does not prescribe, and does not replace professional care. Conversations with it are not confidential clinical care.

We do not guarantee total blocking. No app on any store can prevent 100% of access to betting sites on a device the person themselves controls — this is a technical limit of iOS and Android, explained in the store listing and in onboarding before you subscribe. What we offer is the highest barrier each platform allows (Shield, Guardian Lock, and, on Android, Fortress), combined with the guardian and monitoring with proof.

We are not an emergency service. In case of life-threatening risk, call 188 (CVV, Brazil) or 192 (SAMU, Brazil), or your local emergency number.

3. Minimum age

StopAposta is intended exclusively for adults 18 and over. At sign-up you represent that you are 18 or older; the declaration is timestamped and versioned. If we identify an underage account, it is terminated as soon as we learn of it, and data erased per the Privacy Policy, except what the law requires us to keep.

4. Account, guardian, and termination

Your account is personal and non-transferable. You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for everything that happens under your account; notify us as soon as you suspect unauthorized use.

If you link a guardian, they receive integrity alerts, unlock requests, and whatever summary you authorize, as described in the Privacy Policy. You may unlink a guardian anytime, subject to the reflection period of your chosen protection level.

You may delete your account anytime from the app. The request enters a 7-day grace period, cancellable within it; once it lapses, the account and linked data are erased. Deletion is never blocked by an active lock — if a guardian was linked, they're notified of the request but cannot block it (Privacy Policy §8).

5. How protection works — and each level's limits

  • Shield (free forever): blocks known betting sites and apps, including mirrors and new domains identified by Sentinela. This is the baseline any app can offer, and is never paid.
  • Guardian Lock: adds the second person, an unlock code/reflection period, and monitoring with proof. This is what resists a moment of urge.
  • Fortress (Android, optional): the highest level, turning the device into a managed device (Device Owner) after a guided factory reset, with your explicit confirmation before any change. Leaving Fortress also requires a factory reset — the app explains this before you enter.

No level prevents 100% of access or "cures" the addiction; they reduce access and add friction and support at moments of risk.

6. Subscription, plans, and billing

  • All protection is free and permanent: Shield, Guardian Lock, Fortress, monitoring and guardian alerts, and the Community. Non-subscribers use the app with ads (§7); protection never depends on payment or on ads, for anyone.
  • The StopAposta Full subscription has 4 plans, each with a 3-day free trial for first-time subscribers: monthly (R$ 49.90), quarterly (R$ 129.90), semiannual (R$ 239.90), and annual (R$ 419.90). It unlocks StopAposta AI chat and detailed reports, and removes ads.
  • Billing and auto-renewal are handled by the store where you subscribed — App Store or Google Play — under its own billing and refund rules. Cancel anytime in that store's subscription settings; cancelling stops renewal, not the period already paid for.
  • Your contracted protection is never interrupted by a late or failed payment during the lock period — only chat and detailed reports become unavailable until payment is resolved. Switching plans within the subscription group also never interrupts protection.

7. Advertising (non-subscribers)

The app shows third-party ads (Google AdMob) to users without an active subscription. Gambling, casino, and get-rich-quick ad categories are blocked in the ad panel. Ads never appear on the urge/crisis screen, in crisis contacts, in the AI chat, in the guardian flow, during unlock/install, or on the block screen. Watching an ad never unlocks StopAposta AI or any part of protection — those are always free or always paid, never traded for an ad view.

8. Responsible gambling and help resources

Gambling can cause addiction and financial loss. StopAposta exists to help you stop; if gambling is affecting your finances, family, work, or mental health, seek help: CVV 188 (Brazil, 24h, free), your local CAPS, Jogadores Anônimos Brasil, and the Brazilian gambling regulator's (SPA/MF) self-exclusion program. StopAposta AI offers a shortcut to all of these and, on detecting signs of risk to life, interrupts the normal flow to show these contacts.

9. Community conduct

The Community is an anonymous peer-support space, moderated by AI and humans before and after posting. Prohibited: harassment, hate speech, sharing others' personal data, encouraging or teaching how to gamble, sexual content, self-promotion, and spam. Violations may lead to a warning, suspension, or ban, with a dedicated protocol for crisis signals.

10. Acceptable use

You may use StopAposta to protect yourself and to take part in the Community and chat, within your plan's limits. Prohibited: deliberately bypassing protection to harm others; reverse-engineering the app beyond what the law allows; scraping, reselling, or redistributing service content; using bots/automation outside what the interface offers; or using the app for unlawful purposes.

The brand, design, code, and blocking methodology are ours or licensed to us. You receive a personal, limited, revocable, non-transferable license to use the service.

11. Limitation of liability

We work to keep the service running and the block list current, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted operation or 100% blocking of betting sites and apps — the technical reasons are in §2 and the store listing.

We are not liable for relapse, financial loss from gambling, or damage from a protection failure caused by an operating-system limitation, removal of protection by the user or an authorized third party, or temporary service unavailability.

Nothing in this section removes rights guaranteed to you by Brazil's Consumer Protection Code, nor our liability for willful misconduct or gross negligence.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify us for claims, losses, costs, or expenses, including attorney's fees, arising from your use of StopAposta in violation of these Terms or the law, violation of a third party's rights, or Community content posted in violation of §9.

13. Users outside Brazil

StopAposta is operated from Brazil and governed by Brazilian law, even though accessible from other countries. If you access from outside Brazil, it is your responsibility to check whether using a betting-blocking app is lawful in your jurisdiction. Your data may be processed on servers outside your country, per the Privacy Policy.

14. Communications

You agree to receive operational communications — security, billing, guardian alerts, changes to these Terms or the Policy — by email, push notification, or in-app. Marketing communications are optional and you can opt out anytime without affecting operational communications.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. The current version is always published on this page, with a version identifier and effective date. A material change is announced in the service itself and requires new acceptance on your next access; if you disagree, you may delete your account (§4).

16. General provisions

The invalidity of one clause doesn't affect the others. Tolerating one breach doesn't waive the right to enforce it later. You may not assign this contract; we may, in a corporate reorganization, keeping the same conditions and notifying you beforehand. These Terms, the Privacy Policy, and your plan's conditions form the entire agreement between you and StopAposta.

17. Governing law and venue

These Terms are governed by Brazilian law, notably the Consumer Protection Code (Law 8.078/1990), the Civil Code, the Brazilian Internet Civil Framework (Law 12.965/2014), and the General Data Protection Law (LGPD, Law 13.709/2018). Before going to court, contact us via §18 — you may also use consumidor.gov.br or your local Procon. Any dispute arising from these Terms is subject to the consumer's domicile venue, per art. 101, I, of the Consumer Protection Code.
